The newest Gelschus Edition

Well, per our last post, Bradley Allen Gelschus has found himself a wife. The wedding took place this past weekend (9/25) down in Montemedia MN, with a reception in Oakdale. The wedding was gorgeous and my baby bro could not have looked prouder on his big day. My sister Tami and I were bridesmaids, getting in on all the happenings in the wedding. Mike drove down for the big day, but couldn't come down earlier for the rehearsal or stay late for the gift opening the next day. It was his regularly scheduled work weekend-and couldn't get it all off.

The weekend was a whole was a blast!

First week of Chaos

Well Labor Day has come and gone, which means the first week of school, first week of official youth group, first free-lunch, first Sunday School, first Children's Church, first potluck, and the list can go on and on. Thiessen, I have to say, enjoys when school is in session because as we get moving in the morning he gets to watch the kids get on the bus and when we get home, he gets to watch them get off the bus. The activity level is so different in our neighborhood from school to summer. And Thiessen really enjoys not being tempted with kids playing outside when he is supposed to behaving-taunting him.

Life on a human level, though, is not as enjoyable with the first week of chaos. Working at a church Amy has to spend her entire life at church during the first week of school. Sunday School starts the weekend after Labor Day, meaning that all the supplies, prep-work for Sunday school needs to be done during that week (since if it done too early the supplies go missing). With the start of Sunday School and Children's Church comes the enjoyable task of finding volunteers. This year this task proved to be extremely difficult as the church members have the impression that we don't need them to help serve. Also this week OHCC served the first free lunch of the school year. Free lunch is something that the local churches in Hutchinson do-it is a ministry to the high school students, they come to a church across the street and are served a meal for free (hence the name) and hear a brief message. The youth directors of the supporting churches always come too! This is a blast, but a lot of work-adding to the chaos of the first week. Youth group had a great jump start this past week-confirmation starts this up and coming week!

With all this chaos happening at home (and I suppose in the community too). Mike has really had to hold his own during this time. It was his weekend to work-keeping himself very busy. But overall he has been loving his job and has done extremely well there!

Please pray as this season of school starts. The chaos normally only lasts a little bit into the fall, but with Brad and Sammy's wedding at the end of September it may last a little longer.

With Much Love!
